I have always loved both telling and listening to stories. My dad instilled in me this love for tales when he wrote and recounted his own stories to my siblings and me when we were caravanning around Europe. With my own students, I’ve seen how narratives are a fantastic vehicle for introducing juicy lexis within a memorable and meaningful context. If they are given the opportunity to react and share their own personal stories, the language is much more likely to stick and become part of their active vocabulary.
Lexicalship aims to combine a love for telling stories, sharing anecdotes, and performing tasks with a passion for exploring lexical chunks. By choosing topics, ideas and concepts that people naturally share in real life, incorporating elements of task-based learning with the lexical approach, we feel we have an effective and entertaining way to help you upgrade your language output.

Nicola’s Lexical Sprint is truly one of a kind – never have I ever come across such an efficient and effective format of a lexical course! All skills (and systems) get a substantial boost: first you listen to a story, created by Nicola, trying to write it down. Then you get a transcript of the story, which enables you to check whether your guesses were correct – this way you will have met with the language at least twice. Experienced learners notice great chunks along the way, and in order to clarify the meaning Nicola kindly provides masterfully crafted Quizlet sets. Furthermore, the participants get gentle reminders to practice new language in an engaging and meaningful way – Nicola creates great interactive tasks on Wordwall. All of the stories are devoted to a specific topic and what makes them truly precious is the fact that they are genuine and come from Nicola’s amazing life experiences – you don’t get an impression that the text was concocted just for the sake of using a certain amount of fancy lexical items. I chose the option with Nicola’s feedback – what impressed me most was the speed with which Nicola reacted to my voice messages, correcting mistakes and suggesting the ways of expressing ideas in a more natural and idiomatic way. This course is truly in the league of its own, I can’t recommend it highly enough!
